After deliberating for more than 15 hours, the 6-woman mostly white jury found George Zimmerman not guilty of all charges. Their options included: manslaughter, second-degree murder, or not guilty.
After the verdict was read, Judge Debra Nelson told Zimmerman he was free to go. Reactions across the spectrum include Al Sharpton calling the verdict an “atrocity” while Ann Coulter tweeted, Hallelujah. The verdict also sparked protests across the nation from California to the East Coast.
Zimmerman had maintained his self-defense stance throughout the trial.
